Salvation is the forgiveness of all our sins. Through the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ we are being infused with life. Because of this God now sees us through the lens of Christ.
—Colossians 2:13 NKJV “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,”
Sin Separated Us From God
—Romans 3:23 NKJV “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Before we became believers our sin kept us separated from God. We were not desirable to God but a repulsive smell. There was nothing we could do to make ourselves pleasing to God and gain entry to heaven.
—Isaiah 64:6 NKJV “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.”
Redeemed Through Christ
But the most wonderful thing for the lost sinner took place on the cross of Calvary. The Son of God has became incarnate (took human form) for our sins, and suffered and died in our place.
Jesus who knew no sin, who was completely sinless, willing took the full burden of our sin and paid the penalty for that sin by dying on the cross. He was not dying His death but ours.
—1 Timothy 2:6 NKJV “who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,”
—Colossians 1:14 NKJV “in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
—Mark 10:45 NKJV “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.””
Forgiveness of All Sins
Christ’s purpose on the cross was for our benefit. By His blood we have been redeemed. We are no longer damaged goods as every (all) of our sins past, present, and future have been purified in Christ. Positionally, we are made righteous in the sight of God.
—2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
—Romans 3:25–26 NKJV “whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”
We are cleansed not by what we bring to the table but by Christ. His blood is more than sufficient to pay the penalty for our sin. When Christ went to the cross, He simply did not just forgive our past sins but All of our sins. (past, present, and future) have been forgiven.
—Titus 2:14 NKJV “who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.”
—1 John 1:7 NKJV “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
It is a great relief to know that all our sins were paid for on the cross. This should be a comforting thought to the believer. We can serve God faithfully because we have been spared the penalty of sin and the wrath of God.
—Romans 5:9 NKJV “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”
Salvation, Purchased by Christ’s Blood
We were bought with a price. We were purchased by his blood, and have become a precious creature in the eyes of God. Death no longer has claim on us as we have been promised eternal life in Christ. No one with the stain of sin may have fellowship with God but thankfully, God who is rich in grace removed that stain of sin from us permanently by the blood of Christ.
—Ephesians 1:7 NKJV “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”
—1 John 5:13 NKJV “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”
Forgiveness of All Sins = Eternal Life
God had an eternal purpose to provide eternal life to His creation. He accomplished this through Christ who has abolished death. We have been made incorruptible in Christ. God saving us from sin was not an afterthought. Out of love, God made provisions for our salvation before time began.
—Titus 1:2 NKJV “in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,”
—2 Timothy 1:10 NKJV “but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,”
—Titus 2:11 NKJV “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,”
Have Faith in God
God has done everything for us (sinners). He has removed the stain of sin from us, declaring us righteous through Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross. As believers we have been perfected in Christ.
—Hebrews 10:12–14 NKJV “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”
If you have not yet been sanctified, set apart as belonging to Christ, won’t you now trust in Christ as your savior and place your faith in the merit of Christ’s work on the cross. and enjoy the victory over sin He has won for you.
God has offered us a great gift in Christ. I hope you will accept Christ’s death for your sins and be declared righteous before God. Hurry before time runs out. If you do not place your faith in Christ, you will go to the grave as a dead sinner.
—Ephesians 2:8 NKJV “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,”
—Romans 3:22 NKJV “even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;”
—Romans 4:5 NKJV “But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,”
