Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Christ

by admingp

Knot. Death, Burial, and Resurrection

Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection hold the key to our salvation. Through the grace of God we are being offered eternal life.

He made the ultimate sacrifice by sending Christ to the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. God showed us an abundant amount of mercy and showered us with His grace. He has freed us from the chains of death and through Christ is providing redemption through His blood.

—Ephesians 1:7 NKJV “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”

—1 Corinthians 15:3 NKJV “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,”

Faith

Salvation is like a tightly wound knot. Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection is twisted together forming a strong bond that seals us to God. God has secured us through His Word. He has provided us with faith drawing us toward Him. (Faith comes  by hearing) Through His Word we have heard the preaching of Jesus Christ and have been exposed to the truth in God’s Word. It is a truth that can set us free from the chains of sin.

—Romans 10:17 NKJV “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

By reaching out and accepting this faith through God’s grace we are declared righteous. This faith leads us to accept and submit that we are sinners. We need to realize that we are lost and need God to save us.

Only by trusting to  Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and by accepting what He has done in our behalf do we have hope. Once we trust that Christ died for our sins and embrace the truth of His death,  burial and resurrection do we become saved sinners. Christ’s righteousness is now credited to our account.

Motivated by Love

It was because of our sins Christ needed to go to the cross. Why would God send His innocent son to the cross? The world in the past and still today despises Christ. In the schools, governments, entertainment and communities He is mocked, ridiculed, and hated. His teaching are steadily being subverted and and being shunned. Sadly, even in most churches the world view is preached and not God’s Word. Men continually twist the Word so that they are at the center and not Christ.

If you are brave enough to teach Christ you will face the same ridicule. The world does not want to hear the truth and will attempt to silence anyone who dares to share the truth. Again, why would God offer His Son to a world who has turned their back on Him? God is offering His grace to a lost and dying world because of His love and mercy. I don’t think anyone can truly understand the depth of God’s love but we certainly can appreciate it.

Identified with Christ

The penalty for sin had to be paid. God is holy and just and as such justice had to be administered. Christ is at the core of our justification. He who had no sin took all our sins and paid the penalty with His life.

In His death and ressurection He obtained salvation for us. He rose  from the grave victorious over death. Once we trust in Christ we are identified with Him. We are now declared righteous and one day we shall trade in our old body for our new glorified body that will live forever in the presence of God.  For Christ has removed the the barrier between God and us.

—Romans 6:3–4 NKJV “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

—Romans 4:24–25 NKJV “but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.”

Believe

If you have not trusted in Christ for your salvation, you are on a one way trip to the lake of fire and will face the full wrath of God. As amazing as God’s love is His wrath is equally terrible.

—John 3:36 NKJV “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

While there is still time Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. God in His love paid your tab for your sin. In obedience Christ went to the cross so that you could be redeemed. Please accept God’s wonderful offer of salvation today.

—Acts 16:31 NKJV “So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” …

What is the hope of the cross?

I know Christ died my death on the cross so that I may have eternal life. But in everyday life what does that mean to a believer. It certainly does not take the bumps out of the road of life.

The truth about Christ's painful death on the cross is that Christ did not come to remove our human sufferings but to show us a way through it to all of the heavenly blessings beyond.

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,.

He has given us the strength to survive our tribulations until we are called home. His death on the cross is our guarantee!

That is the hope of the cross.
