Motivated by love, God is offering the world an amazing gift. In an act of mercy and grace, God is offering us eternal life.
Over 2000 years ago the world rejected Christ. When given a chance to let Jesus live, the crowds did not cry for his release but vehemently voted to have him crucified. The Lord Jesus Christ was not recognized as the King but as a criminal.
Wages of sin
The rejection of Christ has eternal consequences. The world could have been judged and condemned to face the immediate wrath of God but God has stayed His hand temporarily. Instead of immediate judgment, He is offering grace to a fallen world.
This period of grace has lasted for over 2000 years but it won’t last forever. Eventually God will visit His wrath on this fallen world. God’s justice will be served for all that reject Christ. As sinners our wages (what we have earned) is death and separation from God.
—Romans 3:10 NKJV “As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;”
—Romans 3:23 NKJV “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
—Romans 6:23 NKJV “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God’s Grace
Knowing that we deserve death, should make us appreciate God’s grace. This offer of God’s grace is an incredible gift for a lost and fallen world. God is freely offering us eternal life.
We receive salvation not by our deeds but by faith alone in Christ. There is nothing in our fallen state that we can offer a Holy God. We can not earn a spot in heaven. All we can earn is death!
—Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
An Amazing Gift
We have received the most amazing gift of all times. We have been saved by the grace of God. While on earth, we may suffer personal disasters, be troubled by health issues or economic problems but spiritually we are rich beyond measure.
These troubles we exeperience on earth will pale in comparison to the glory that awaits the believer. We have been given a joy that will burn eternally! This wonderful gift of grace from God should help put things in perspective.
—2 Corinthians 4:17 NKJV “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,”
Do you want to experience the love of God and received God’s gift of salvation? Through Christ God is offering you eternal life. All you need to do is believe in Christ as your personal savior.
