What a wonderful blessing it is for sinners to be rescued by Christ. This act of love was a recipe of mercy and grace from God when He sent Christ to rescue sinners with His substitutionary death on the cross. Through Christ’s amazing act of loyalty he destroyed the power of sin and brought life to the dying.
—Romans 6:9 NKJV “knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.”
Christ voluntarily faced death at Calvary. He bore the weight of all of our sins. In that moment death had a claim on Him, but in one great moment of victory, Christ defeated death and conquered sin through His Resurrection. In that act He was freed from the dominion of death and all that place their faith in His resurrection have also won their freedom from death.
—Romans 6:10 NKJV “For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.”
Death is Abolished
Believing sinners are dead to sin and alive to God through Jesus Christ. Because of this great victory, the believer never needs fear death. Death no longer has power over us. Sin and its curse of death have been defeated and no longer has mastery over us. In Christ’s death and resurrection he destroyed the power of sin forever!
By His offering on the cross, He has replaced the curse of death with eternal life. We have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. Christ has abolished death and brought us life.
—2 Timothy 1:10 NKJV “but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,”
Death through Adam; Life Through Christ!
—1 Corinthians 15:22 NKJV “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
Adam brought us death. We all wear the yoke of sin. It weighs us down and condemns us to death. Through Adam we are in bondage to the curse and the death it promises. In Adam our outlook is bleak. Only Christ offeres us hope from the clutches of death.
Rescued by Christ
Thankfully by the grace of God, Christ went to the cross to bear the penalty for our sins. In His resurrection Christ broke the shackles binding us to sin. By placing our faith in the accomplishments of Christ on the cross, we are identified with Christ. As he was resurrected so are we. No longer are we wretched creatures but we now wear the glory of Christ and walk in newness of life.
—Romans 6:4 NKJV “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
If you have not yet placed your trust in Christ, please do so now and enjoy the blessings of being rescued by Christ.
