I know as a kid I was entranced with movies and books about treasure hunts. I could imagine myself on a great adventure discovering some priceless treasure.
Recently I was flipping through the channels and saw a program where visitors bring in objects that they perceive to be valuable.
They may be things from the turn of the century, items of historical value, collectible items, family heirlooms, etc. Each person who brings in something is hoping that the item is significant and will be appraised as being very valuable.
After watching one of these shows you can’t help but to wonder if maybe something you have gathering dust in some neglected corner may be a hidden treasure. However, after thinking about this for a second I realized my most valuable thing I own is my Bible, for it contains the Word of God.
The Bible: Priceless Treasure
In my Bible I find the hope that is in Christ, I find peace by God’s grace and I enjoy knowing about the love God showered on us at Calvary. In the Word I have discovered great riches I have in Christ.
Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
—Ephesians 2:7 NKJV “that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
—Philippians 4:19 NKJV “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Through God’s Word I learned no matter what I will never stand alone. I know I can find comfort in the fact that since I now belong to God I am eternally safe in His hands.
John 10:28-29 “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”
