What is God’s attitude on sin? He is not wishy-washy on this subject but is strongly opposed to sin. This verse is highlighting God’s strong anger for those who ignored his outpouring of love on the cross.
—Romans 1:18 NKJV “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,”
God Loved the World
God demonstrated His great love on the Cross by sending His own Son to die for our sins. God so despised sin and the stain it left on the world that God was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice
—John 3:16–17 NKJV “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
God’s desire is to save the world, but beware of the righteous anger of God to those who reject his offer. Now, that he has made this sacrifice, those who thumb their nose in the air at God or worse purposely lead people away from God will eventually be on the receiving end of God’s extreme anger.
—Ephesians 5:6 NKJV “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.”
—Romans 2:8–9 NKJV “but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek;”
Faith in Christ
—Romans 6:23 NKJV “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
As you can see God’s Attitude on Sin is not very friendly? Our time on the earth is limited. For the most part we do not know when we will take our last breath. As long as we reject God, we are doomed to face His righteous wrath. We are in grave danger if we continue to take a lackadaisical attitude toward sin.
Since it is impossible for us to save ourselves, it is necessary to place faith in Christ, that he paid the penalty for our sins and we are covered by the righteousness of Christ.
—Romans 1:16–17 NKJV “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.””
—Romans 3:26 NKJV “to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”
Redeemed by His Blood
The cost of sin to God was extremely high — The blood of His Son. God will not ignore sin. We can’t wish away our sin, sweep it under the rug, or attempt to cover it up by doing good works. We do not have the power to deliver ourselves from sin; only God has that power.
As sinners we are sentenced to death. Only through the blood of Christ could our sins be forgiven. If it required Christ’s death to save us, it is easy to see why sin stirs God’s anger.
—Ephesians 1:7 NKJV “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”
—Romans 4:5 NKJV “But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,”
—Ephesians 2:4–5 NKJV “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”
World of Fools
The worlds viewpoint of sin is definitely different form God’s. The world sees sin as no consequence, a trivial matter, and even will revel in sin.
Everywhere in our world sin is being glorified. A day can not go by where you will not be exposed by the world that sin is acceptable . You will see it in the programs you watch, the books you read, the social media you follow, in the news and schools, as well as being promoted by celebrates and politicians.
The world thinks since sin is so prevalent and acceptable in our culture, that they have won the day and there will be no consequences for rejecting Christ. The sit proud on their thrown of sin For the moment the world may feel they are safe, but God calls them fools.
—1 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV “Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”
—Romans 1:21–22 NKJV “because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools,”
—1 Corinthians 3:19–20 NKJV “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; and again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.””
We know what is God’s attitude on sin is but what is yours? Will you accept God’s gift of salvation or will you fall folly to the wisdom of this world?
—Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
