Christians are encouraged to hold fast the word of life. In our daily lives we have many responsibilities. We may need to support a family, take care of aging parents, perform duties at work, church or charities. These are all noble and are worthy of our time.
However, are most important duty we have as believers is to championship the cause of Christ. God’s Word gives us spiritual strength and life. We need to embrace the Word and make it part of our everyday lives. But we can’t stop there as we are also charged to bring the Word of God into other peoples lives.
—Philippians 2:16 NKJV “holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.”
Power of God’s Word
God’s Word is what the believer is to hold high so that the world can see the life giving power of God. We are not to persuade men to Christ by our own cleverness but by the power of God’s Word. It is God who will do the saving not us.
Every person in the world has the same need — to be saved from the hell they deserve. There is one and only one cure for this lost condition and that is Christ. He went to the cross to provide salvation to the lost.
Share the Word
As believers we need to present the Word to the lost. His Word is the source of our strength and it is a mighty weapon we can use to overcome all obstacles the enemy places in our path.
In the race of life, believers are ambassadors for Christ. We are to be an example to the world and bring God into peoples lives using His Word. By doing this we bring hope into the world and allow God to breath spiritual life into the lost. We are to hold the light of His Word securely and not waiver in our race or give the enemy a foothold.
Carry the Word of Life
We must not let the enemy silent us. God’s Word is the strength we need to be His champions. We have been given an important responsibility to carry the Word of life so that others may see the light.
In the Olympics the torch runner holds the torch high. It is meant to be seen. As we race through life we are to shine the glory of Christ to the world. Every believer should train like an Olympic runner and continually study the Word and pray continuously so that they will be equipped to share the light of God’s word.
