The Word of God can and will transform lives. It is by hearing the Word of God that the lost sinner comes to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. With this knowledge the lost sinner learns about God’s love, mercy and offer of salvation.
—Ephesians 1:13 NKJV “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,”
Transformed
Once the sinner learns and accepts the truth of what God accomplished on the cross in Christ Jesus, It is by faith that something amazing happens. God reaches down and claims them as His own, immediately transforming them from a lost condition to a saved condition.
—Romans 1:16–17 NKJV “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.””
Through the gospel of Christ, God causes a great change takes place. Instead of being spiritually dead, sinners are made spiritually alive in Christ. As a guarantee of God’s action the believer is sealed with the Holy Spirit. This is proof positive that the debt of sin has been paid in full by Christ in our behalf. We now belong to God.
Eternal Life — Guaranteed!
Now that we Belong to Him, the Holy Spirit is our guarantee that we have been given the assurance of eternal life. We are secure in the hands of God and have been promised eternal life. The Holy Spirit secures the believer in the body of Christ. Once secure in God’s hand, we are eternally secure as there is no power that can remove us from God’s protection.
—John 10:29 NKJV “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”
Word of God = Peace of Mind
Being sealed by the Holy Spirit means the believer has peace of mind, knowing that they have the full assurance from God of eternal life. They have been saved and given a great inheritance in Jesus Christ. Not only have they been saved from the wrath to come but have been promised all the heavenly blessings.
If you have not trusted in God for your eternal salvation, I hope you will hear His word and let it transform your life.
—Acts 16:30–31 NKJV “And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
