With a copy of PlayBoy tucked under his arm Charlie is walking down Rush Street. His eyes are nervously scanning the streets, until his sees the beat up Chevy parked across the street. He breathes a sigh of relief and shuffles quickly across the street to the car. His hands are sweaty and he can’t control the shaking of his hands as he slides a twenty to the man in the car in exchange for his daily “pick-me-up”.
A year ago Charlie attended church regularly. In fact he sung in the church choir. But now a year later he no longer attends church, reads a bible, or even thinks about God. Charlie did not go from being a devoted Christian to a non-practicing Christian over night; he did it by making many small compromises.
As Christians we must draw a line and not compromise our faith. Sadly, ALL Christians do make compromises. The danger of compromise is that we end up trading the truth for a lie. What can you do to avoid compromising the word of God? Regular intake of Bible doctrine!
TRUTH must first be discovered! God’s word only contains truth. There is not one false statement or lie in God’s word. God is Truth.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
You Need the Word
Studying God’s Word can help you keep your focus on God. It is your spiritual roadmap. To avoid compromising God’s word, you must know the truth of His word. How can you explain and live the truth of God’s word if you do not know what His word says.
—2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,”
As believers you must feed yourself a healthy diet of God’s word. Satan loves lies, and if he can keep you away from God’s word, it is easier for him to feed you his lies.
Avoid the Dangers of Compromise
Do not let life’s distractions keep you from God’s word. If you compromise here and do not get a regular intake of bible doctrine, you will not know a truth from a lie.
Discover the truth and study God’s word. Regularly consuming of God’s word and prayer will keep you from traveling down the road of compromise. But if you stop feeding your spirit, you risk that danger of going down the hazardous road of compromise.
