Condemned by Sin: Sentenced to Death

by admingp

grave, condemned by sinThe Bible teaches that man is condemned by sin. Does sin matter? Is it something we need to worry about? According to the world’s standard sin is trivial but scriptures says differently.

—2 Thessalonians 2:12 NKJV “that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

God’s Standards Matter; Not Man’s

But as with most spiritual matters, the world is easily deceived by the great deceiver. As much as the leaders of this world trivialize sin or make it of non-importance, God takes it very seriously.

The god (Satan) of this world convinces men that there is no absolute wrongs or right and that they are not held accountable to any higher authority and can do as they please. The world tries to teach we are not condemned by sin but in this they are dead wrong. One day all men will need to give account.

If you asked a person what is sin? a common answer may be doing wrong or disobedience to God. That does accompany sin, but sin is much more than that it is failing to meet God’s standard of holiness and purity.

We must hit the mark of God’s perfect standard to be with Him. Anything less than spotless, spoils us. Unfortunately, man is not capable of hitting that mark.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

The consequence of our sin has caused us to fall short of the glory of God and miss sharing all the blessing that go along with it. This is biggest problem facing the man. In fact it condemns us to death.

When Adam rebelled against God in the garden and chose to sin, he was no longer pure and became spiritually separated from God. In that moment the race of man was corrupted. As all men originated from Adam we have inherited a sinful nature.

Sin Results in Death

Rom. 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned

All men are sinners and because of this man pursues his sinful interests which can easily be attested to by reading the depravity of mans action in the daily news. Our sinful nature is hostile to God and will not submit to His will.

This sinful nature keeps us separated from God, spiritually dead. Even the best of men who strive to do good, will not be able to live a perfect life because of their sinful nature. Remember, it takes only one sin to be a sinner. It does not matter how great or small the sin.

God’s purpose for man was to live forever, however, the taint of sin changed all that. The natural result of sin is death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sin condemns us to death both physically and spiritually. Physical death is the visible experience, while it is our spiritual death that separates us from God and all His riches. Simply put sin equals death! We were originally created in the image of God but sin has marred us and left us in a decaying state.

Because of our sin we are condemned to death. This is a very serious condition. However, God has an ultimate plan so that we may have victory over sin. That will be the topic of our next article. Be sure to read the good news!

What is the hope of the cross?

I know Christ died my death on the cross so that I may have eternal life. But in everyday life what does that mean to a believer. It certainly does not take the bumps out of the road of life.

The truth about Christ's painful death on the cross is that Christ did not come to remove our human sufferings but to show us a way through it to all of the heavenly blessings beyond.

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,.

He has given us the strength to survive our tribulations until we are called home. His death on the cross is our guarantee!

That is the hope of the cross.
