Rom. 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The god of this world is Satan and he wants to thwart God’s plans at every opportunity. He wants to make believers ineffectual workers for God. He has many tools in his arsenal including distractions and distorting the truth of the word of God so it loses its power. The battle for the believer is taking place in our mind (intellect) and we need to be prepared.
To withstand the lusts of this world and the snares of the devil, and immorality that weakens us, we are to present ourselves to the service of God. We are to strive on a regular basis to live our lives in the perfect will of God. To do this we need to be able to discern the lies of Satan from the truths of God. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to transform us by the renewing of our minds. For this to take place we need to feed our minds with a regular intake of bible doctrine. Only through this will we be able to begin replacing our selfish ungodly thoughts with the wisdom of God. Through this regular intake of God’s Word, our mind will be cleansed so that our thinking will be changed to be aligned with the will of God.
Nourish yourself with the Word of God, so that you can be an effective servant for God, instead of a servant crippled by the deceptions of Satan.
Phil. 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Col. 1:9-10 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
